We were delighted to welcome Rebecca Edwards to school to speak to Primary 4-Primary 7 pupils. Rebecca is a past pupil of Howard Primary School and has competed in not one, but two Olympics. Rebecca is a member of Team GB rowing team and competed in the Olympics in Tokyo in 2021 and in Paris in 2024.
Rebecca and her mum, former P4 teacher, Mrs Edwards, joined the teaching staff for break and then took time to speak to the senior pupils in a special assembly. Rebecca spoke from the heart and explained the highs and the lows of life as a rower. She spoke about beginning to row at QUB and of how she has such a strict daily training regime. Rebecca took time to answer many questions and it is fair to say, she really inspired the pupils and staff. Rebecca talked about perseverance, seizing opportunities and always doing your best.
We were delighted that Rebecca present school with one of her Team GB lycra. We look forward to displaying it in school.
